long days!

I have had such a wonderful spring this year. It feels as if time flies by when your having fun??? oh wait... It flies by so fast you don't know where time has gone. The last little while I have been super crazy busy, I haven't ever been this busy before. I teach dance for a regular job, on top of that I direct a Dance4life program at the Boys and Girls club, along with Starting a new organization called Promethean Spark, and taking dance classes! There's a whole lot more I could list....

Anywho- We just wrapped up the start week of Promethean Spark at the Boys and Girls club. It was a successful, tiring and frustrating week. Promethean Spark Utah is the first in the states and the first in Utah! I am so lucky I get to direct the Hub here and be involved in such a great cause. Promethean Spark teaches lives skills through dance to impoverished youth world wide. I had the opportunity to go to Cosat Rica with Promethean Spark and experience life changing events. Working with a Drug and Alcohol Rehab center we taught dance to a group of boys. They are very hard to work with because there is no discipline to start off. As the class continues they begin to focus, concentrate and listen. By the end of the program I saw a whole new group of men!

The kids here in Utah ate up the program. Their favorite part of the class is the "Boot Camp" section of the warm up. They're best move is the sit-ups. These aren't any kind of sit-ups these sit-ups you have to pound on your stomach as your moving. After that push-ups! you cannot stop no matter what and the song gets faster and faster as you move along. If someone stops the whole class starts all over! It is a developed love/hate relationship with the kids! We start classes full time next week with the club- there are four other teachers who are involved and will volunteer their time to be with the kids. I am really excited about this new program and know that over time with support and connection we can make this flourish to something great!
